Dr. Smriti Aryal AC is Assistant Professor in Oral and Craniofacial Health Science, University of Sharjah, UAE. She has obtained her BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) from the University of Dhaka in 2005. After obtaining her BDS degree, Dr. Smriti Aryal AC was awarded Japan Dental Association Fellowship to do postgraduate training in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, Niigata University, Japan. After completing her PGT she did her Ph.D. (2009-2013) in the mechanism of tooth and bone disease from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Tokyo, Japan under Japan government fellowship. Dr. Smriti Aryal AC worked as postdoctoral fellow under Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) JAPAN government fellowship and as an Assistant Professor at Tokyo Medical and Dental University after completion of her Ph.D. (2013-2015) After that she went to the USA (2015-2017) under NIH (USA government fellowship) and worked on the mechanism of osteogenesis imperfecta at National Institute of Child health and Human development (NICHD), National Institute of Health (NIH), Bethesda, USA.
Her field of research involves mechanism of communication between bone cells and stem cells during bone healing, current trends in regenerative dentistry, mechanical stress and bone regeneration. She is also involved in the development of new biomaterials that enhances bone regeneration. Dr. Smriti Aryal AC is a member of several international scientific societies and has authored and co-authored peer reviewed research articles in Scopus Index Journals including Achieves of Oral Biology, International Journal of Nano-medicine, Molecular basis of disease, Translation research, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America (PNAS), Journal of cellular physiology, and Journal of cellular biochemistry and received funding as an Advanced. I. Super Student from the GCOE program for her research in ‘"Molecular Science in Tooth and Bone diseases” as well as grant from Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). During her graduate studies due to excellency in her research she was invited as a representative from Tokyo Medical and Dental University to present her research in Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston, USA. She has been presenting her research work annually in American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) annual meetings in Canada and in various cities in the USA. She has also received ASBMR travel grant and young investigator award in the ASBMR annual meeting in the USA furthermore she has also been presenting her research work regularly in JADR (Japan Association for Dental Research) in various cities of Japan and IADR (International Association For Dental Research) in Spain, Norway, USA.
