After graduating from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova in 1992, Prof.Dr.Istratoaie Octavian specialized in Cardiology and since 2016 he is the Head of the Cardiology Department at the Clinical Emergency County Hospital of Craiova. He was an Assistant Professor at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Craiova from 1998 till 2007 when he became a Lecturer till 2016 and after that, Associate Professor till now. Also since 1996 he is a member of the Romanian Society of Cardiology and since 2002 he is also a member of the European Society of Cardiology. Another associations where he is a member of could be: American Heart Association, Medicines Commission within the County Clinical Hospital Craiova, Teaching Council within University of Medicine and Pharmacy Craiova, National Board Romanian College of Physicians and more. Beside all of this competencies in cardiology, since 2003 he is also a Primary Care Physician in Internal Medicine. As an author of scientific writings, he has written several books on cardiology. Some of these could be Evaluation of microvascular density in myocardial fibrosis, Atrial myxoma with hemiplegia, Analyses and resting the Antibacterial Effect of Tragopogon Pratensis and Vaccinium myrtillus and more. There are more than 15 publications as main author in extensive and over 100 summary publications at national and international scientific events.
