Dr. Zhijian Hu is an active biomedical science researcher working in pharmaceutical company Angion Biomedical Corp. He has strong background and experiences in clinical medicine, cell and molecular biology, and biochemistry studies. Dr. Hu specializes in Surgical management of digestive system diseases, especially liver related disorder; target protein identification of bioactive compound and pre-clinical research of small molecule therapeutics to address acute organ injuries and fibrotic disease on animal models. Dr. Hu holds a medical degree from Tongji Medical college of Hua Zhong University of Science and technology. After 5 years of undergraduate training on clinic medicine and 3 years of graduated training on surgery, Dr. Hu served Xinyang Central Hospital for 2 years as general surgeon. He also holds Ph.D. degree on cell and molecular biology from University of Arkansas. During the doctoral training, he performed systematically Structure-Activity Relationship (SAR)study on natural product Ipomoeassin F and successfully identify its target protein by a series of probes. Dr. Hu’s distinct interdisciplinary experience of general surgeon, biochemical researcher, animal surgeon as well as pre-clinical researcher endow him unique perspective and expertise in scientifical research.
