It is an episodic or chronic mental condition. It can cause extreme, often unusual and alternate changes in the focus, concentration, activity, energy and mood. It is sometimes called manic depression or manic-depressive disorder which is not the new term.
Symptoms may include:

- Need for sleep is decreased
- Unable to do even simple things
