biography

Marie Bissong is currently a lecturer/Researcher in microbiology in the University of Bamenda, Cameroon. She obtained a PhD degree in Microbiology in 2014 where her post-graduate research was on evaluating the role of infectious diseases in the clinical outcome of diabetes mellitus. Marie is talented in hands-on-research in which she has acquired skills in molecular microbiology (PCR), antimicrobial resistance, tissue culture and bacteriophage technology as well as in clinical labrotary analysis.

research interest

Her research interests include the epidemiology of infectious diseases, which focus on zoonotic diseases, bacterial virulence and antimicrobial resistance. Her current research is focused on the screening of bacteriophages with lytic capabilities against food-borne zoonotic pathogens. The research is geared towards biocontrol, biotherapeutics, and food safety.
