Critical Care Nursing and Emergency Nursing

Critical care is a term used to explain as the care of patients who are extremely ill. Critical Care Nursing is that specialty within nursing that deals specifically with human response to life threatening problem. A Critical Care Nurse is licensed professional nurse who is responsible for ensuring that acutely and critically ill patients and their families receive optimal care. Emergency nursing is a nursing specialty in which nurse care for the patients in emergency or critical phase of their illness or injury.

Principle of Emergency Nursing:

  • Start cardiac monitoring
  • Establish a patients airway and provide adequate ventilation
  • Protect and clean wound-apply sterilize dressing
  • Identify allergies and medical history of the patients
  • Cary out a rapid initial and ongoing physical examination
