Carcinoma

Carcinoma is a type of cancer that develops from epithelial cells. A carcinoma is a cancer that begins in a tissue that lines the inner or outer surfaces of the body. Carcinomas occur when the DNA of a cell is damaged or altered and the cell begins to grow uncontrollably and become malignant. The Carcinoma’s are classified based on the damage caused to the specific Cell type as given below:

  • Epithelial cells is known as carcinoma
  • Non-hematopoietic mesenchymal cells is known as sarcoma
  • Hematopoietic cells
  • Bone marrow cells that matures in bloodstream is known as leukaemia
  • Bone marrow cells that matures in the lymphatic system is known as lymphoma
  • Germ cells is known as germinoma
