Oncology Nursing

Oncology Nursing is the field in which the nurses are specialised in providing the care and support the cancer patients during or after the treatment. Oncology nurses can work in different kind of work settings and are specialised with various trainings such as radiation, chemotherapy, helping the patient, increasing the patient confidence towards the treatment, understanding the treatment plan and assisting the doctors in the treatment plan. In the oncology the nurses are also trained in the bit different concepts like gynaecology and paediatrics. There are different organizations respective to the oncology nursing such as The Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC), to ensure that the nurses are given appropriate training for assisting the doctors during the treatment and understanding the side effects of the different cancer conditions during the chemo therapy and bio therapy.
