Sinusitis

Sinusitis is also known as rhinosinusitis which is caused due to inflammation of the mucous membrane lining the sinuses. Sinusitis simply means that your nose and sinuses are inflamed. This can be caused by many different things, including the common cold. Sinusitis often starts from a cold and could possibly turn into a bacterial infection.

There are the following symptoms of sinusitis as given below:

  • Coughing
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Feeling tired
  • Mucus drainage

Sinusitis treatment depends on the symptoms. Healthcare providers may suggest pain relievers and decongestants. Sometimes heating pads, vaporizers, and saline sprays may help.  A small subset of people with sinusitis symptoms might need antibiotics to treat their problems. Some cases may be prevented by hand washing, avoiding smoking, and immunization.
