Neonatal Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia is the most widely recognized metabolic change in the neonatal period where neonate’s blood glucose level is less than the normal body glucose level which is required for factors such as cellular energy and metabolism as the neonate’s brain depends upon almost on glucose as it consumers 90% of the total glucose. Mostly gestational age infants, infants of diabetic mothers and late-preterm infants are affected by Neonatal Hypoglycemia. The greater part of these neonates has transient hypoglycemia. These children require visiting glucose checking to forestall hypoglycemic mind injury and propelled examinations for the determination of basic etiology. Diagnosis is suspected empirically and is confirmed by glucose testing.
